Question: This is a message for the women of a certain age on the list! I’ve just hit the big five-o and been for my first mammogram. I went warned by friends of the discomfort/pain of having my breasts squashed flat . . . but that turned out not to be a problem at all – not even particularly uncomfortable. What was painful was the peculiar shoulder/arm contortions required. I’ve come home with pain all down both arms and unpleasant tingling in my hands. Has anyone else had this reaction?
Answer: Yes, it was painful for several days. I thought that a certain amount of pain was probably inevitable, given the RSI, but it was made worse by the nurse’s roughness (which she no doubt thinks of as “no-nonsense”).
