Question: I have recently been diagnosed with EXACTLY the same. Like you he told me there is absolutely nothing I can do which devastated me as I have a baby who I cannot hold. I take Ibuprofen when the pain gets unbearable. This is an anti-inflammatory. It really works well. I was told not to continue with Dhydrocodeine (painkiller) as it can cause kidney failure (that’s all I need). The only other thing that helps me is every evening when I get home from work; I put my hands in a bowl full of cold water and ice. Leave them there for 10 minutes and then do NOTHING with them for at least half an hour. It does help.
Answer: You can also run your hands under hot and cold water; alternatively say half a dozen times. This sometimes reduces the aching.
