Question: I had received DLA since 1994 without a problem. Then last December my latest application was refused (though my symptoms are essentially the same as during the last five years) on the grounds that I was not unable to prepare a cooked meal for myself. On 30 December I replied with a two page letter listing all the activities I could not carry out in the kitchen – seemingly a straightforward case.
The agency did not give me the result of their review until 23 April – they would send a doctor to examine me. Since his visit on 10 May I have heard nothing. Can anyone suggest what I should do next? I hesitate to write and chivvy them in case they become still more bloody-minded. Sometimes I feel they’re not on the side of the disabled at all!
Answer: Try writing to your MP. People have found this helps.
