Question: Please forgive me if this has been posted before, but I would like to know of a good book recommendation for the Pilots exercises you have been discussing. I saw a book on it a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t know whether it was the best one or not. I don’t remember who the author is. A beginning book would be excellent for me.
Answer 1: Do you mean “Pilates” if so try Lynne Robinson ? Please sponsor me for Marie Curie Cancer Care in London Marathon 2001!
Answer 2: As a Pilates teacher, I recommend a little Pilates book by Body Control i.e. by Lynne Robinson and Gordon Thomson) called ‘The Desk Reviver’ as it is inexpensive, easy to read for a newcomer to Pilates and the exercises are specifically geared towards sedentary office work. Should you want a more thorough book, ‘The Official Body Control Pilates Manual’ is expensive but worth it as it gives different exercises for different needs and the instructions and pictures are clear .
Judging from your telephone number, I am guessing you are from the States, in which case I do not know which of the books are available over there, you can get the book recommended by Oprah Winfrey and written by Mari Winsor. For beginners, I do not recommend the book by Brooke Siler as I feel the exercises can place strain on the body as they have not been sufficiently broken down for beginners.
