Every time they change our computer system here the number of keystrokes necessary for each operation carried out increases dramatically. No one ever considers that it is important that systems reduce the keying to be done, nor do they look at the impact increasing keying has on those of us who use systems – we never seem to have any input into this aspect of our work. Maybe  this is a bit personal, but I’m sure it applies to other institutions (and must apply to other higher education institutions in the UK as we are not the only one using the system we have just changed to) How can we convey to programmers the importance of considering the impact of the way they program on the end users and persuade them to make reducing keystrokes a priority?. I this that is a rhetorical question!
