Serendipity – a new stretch

In this book on pages 88-89 is a good stretch for the median nerve and the elbows. Conquering Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Other Repetitive Strain Injuries By Sharon J. Butler ISBN= 1-57224-039-3 (paperback) USD $20.00. I have discovered a more passive and relaxing way to do it so you can hold the stretch longer and I got more relief this way. Do what I have given below and then place your arms as she has suggested on pages 88-89. I held each position for at least 5 minutes via a kitchen timer.
Good relaxation technique:

  • Take a double bed size blanket and fold it lengthwise until it is about five or six inches wide.
  • Recline on this elevated narrow blanket from the head to the tailbone extending the arms (palms upward) and legs on the sides of the blanket.
  • This opens the chest area and you are able to breathe deeply and clearly and relax easily.
  • Stay in this position for 15 minutes. I have found is to the most efficacious.

Comment 1: I would also like to add that you can lie on the blanket in the same fashion and put your arms @ 90 degree angles and get a good stretch on the front of the shoulder where it gets very tight from using the mouse and keeping the palm down.

Comment 2: Be sure to keep the palms up on all the stretches.
