Tabes

My five times Great Grandfather was born in 1777 – and he had “occupational tabes of the hips” which I understand we would know as an RSI type injury today.

Comment 1: Many such ‘injuries’ exist(ed). An injury of this nature in weavers may have been known as ‘weavers’ bottom!’ Many others such as policeman’s heel, parsons’ knee, housemaids’ knee’ students’ elbow, bowlers’ shoulder, tennis elbow, golfers’ elbow and dog handlers’ elbow to mention but a few.
