Question: voice/speech recognition software as a substitute for the keyboard and mouse. Is there anybody out there who actually has “hands off” experience of any of the systems?
Answer 1: In my experience, consistency is important. Accents are another matter. I know some people say regional accents cause problems. They shouldn’t.
When this last came up, I tested it by retraining some words using the French pronunciation, and completely altering others.
Answer 2 According to report these systems are slow and difficult to use. I chided him for his lousy accent in English but it does appear as though a number of these systems may have drawbacks unless you are very consistent in your pronunciation. I have no personal experience yet.
